Great Guitar Program

What’s It All About?

The Great Guitar Program provides an opportunity for students to learn a specialist instrument. They learn to read and play music with a backing CD and are introduced to a wide variety of musical styles and genres. As students develop their skills and learn to play chords, they work towards learning group pieces with their peers. Students have the option of receiving private half hour lesson or participating in a group environment for a group half hour lesson of up to four students at a reduced price.

How Is The Great Guitar Program Taught?

The format involves group tuition of up to 4 students in a weekly half-hour lesson, involving one tutor. Note: private individual lessons can be arranged. Students work together and individually on their own designated guitar and the tutor works with each student at their own personal level. Students will have the opportunity to work together in a group playing melodies and harmonies with each other but the success of the tuition requires students to learn the material provided to them for home practice. For this reason, it is recommended that students have a guitar for home use. Students are not required to bring their own instrument to school. Where possible, performance opportunities are given for students as well as an annual concert.

How Much Does It Cost?

Group lessons for 2017 cost $13.50 per lesson and private lessons at $30 per half hour lesson (includes GST) – the Lesson book costs $29.99 (includes GST). Fees are payable on Invoice and may be made by Cash, Cheque or Money Order either directly to the instrumental teacher via the Internet – information required for this appears on the invoice. Please do not alter invoices without prior discussion with the CVM office. All tutors are obliged to give the number of lessons your child has been invoiced for. The exception to this rule is when a child is absent from school on extended holidays or a lengthy illness. Should these exceptions apply to you, please contact the CVM office prior to holidays and an adjustment will be made.

Please note that CVM is not obliged to make up lessons missed due to general illness but will endeavour to do so as much as possible. Invoices MUST be paid within the 14 day period so as to maintain a secured place for your child. (The Customer shall pay the Supplier for all costs incurred by the Supplier (including costs for which the Supplier may be contingently liable) in any attempt to collect any monies owed by the Customer to the Supplier under this Agreement including debt collection agent costs, repossession costs, location search costs, process server costs and solicitor costs on a solicitor/client basis).

When Are Lessons Conducted?

Depending on the School and Teacher availability, lessons may be conducted in school time, recess and lunch time, before and after school.

Is A Guitar Necessary?

Not at first, but having one is a distinct advantage. A limited number of guitars are available for hire, and preference is given to children re-enrolling, or new students from grade 6 downwards. Guitars may be hired for $3.30 per week, with a refundable bond of $40.00.

When Do Lessons Commence?

Term 1 2017 lessons will commence early to mid February. The date of commencement will be confirmed via personal text message and on your Invoice, sent out after the receipt of your Enrolment Form.

Happy Guitar Playing!
